Labourers had to run to save themselves when road cutting for the under construction Helang-Marwadi bypass resulted in heavy landslide. One machine of the executing agency was damaged by the landslide though there the people working at the site were reported to be safe.
It should be noted that the six-kilometre Helang-Marwadi bypass is currently under construction. The construction of this bypass was started in 2022 after the Centre gave its approval for the project. This bypass is slated to be completed in 2025. It is pertinent to mention here that this project has been controversial since the beginning. The construction of the Helang-Marwadi bypass has been in process since 1988-89. It was stalled earlier following the objections raised by a considerable segment of the local residents. The work was resumed after the latest approval granted by the Central government. The latest landslide has caused considerable anxiety among the workers and the local residents.
