In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Risikesh-Badrinath National Highway was closed for traffic for nearly six hours following landslide near Gauchar in Chamoli district. Heavy rain lashed the area late night and then the massive landslips occurred. A number of cars got stuck as the debris blocked the road.
Reports of landslides were received from Krishna Chatti along the Yamunotri NH. A kutcha eatery was washed away by the heavy downpour-triggered landslides.
Meanwhile, the regional meteorological centre forecast torrential rain across Uttarakhand. Issuing yellow warning for a number of districts like Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar, Uttarkashi, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat, the Met office said that there was a possibility of heavy rain in some areas of these districts.
