In latest Uttarakhand news, with rain fury continuing to pound the Himalayan State, the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway was blocked following massive landslides in Tota valley. Thereafter, the vehicles heading to Srinagar from Rishikesh were diverted through an alternative route that passes through Khari, Gaja and Devprayag. Police said that massive boulders started rolling down the hills and falling right on the national highway near Tota valley late into the night and consequently, the road was completely blocked for traffic movement. Even the pedestrians are not being allowed to pass this stretch, police added.
Meanwhile, the regional meteorological centre issued yellow alert of rain for a number of districts of the State like Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh.
