Large number of devotees arrive for Jhanda Mela

A large number of devotees from across India and abroad have started arriving in Dehradun to attend the Jhanda Mela. On Sunday, groups of devotees especially from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan arrived at Darbar Sahib. After completing the routine daily worship, Mahant Devendra Das blessed the devotees. Addressing them on the occasion, he urged them to follow the sacred path preached by the Guru. He also issued instructions to the Jhanda Mela organising committee and the devotees for the smooth and successful conduct of the fair.
The manager of Darbar Sahib fair management committee, KC Juyal informed that the fair management committee has executed special arrangements for the meals, accommodation, water and health facilities of the ‘sangat’ devotees. The ‘sewadars’ of Darbar Sahib are doing all the needful for the welcome, stay and food arrangement of the devotees. Appropriate arrangements have been made for the stay and other requirements of the devotees at Matawalabagh, SGRR Public Schools at Bindal, Bombay Bagh, Talab, Race Course, Raja Road and at different Dharmshalas of the city. The Mahant also appealed to the devotees to strictly follow the Covid-19 protocol. He urged all the devotees to wear masks all the time. He stressed on the need for precaution as Covid-19 had not fully gone away.
Meanwhile, the work of stitching the gilaf- covers or holy flag pole, picked up momentum on Sunday.
It’s worth mentioning that three kinds of gilafs are put on the flag pole. The innermost are the ordinary gilafs which are 41 in number. In the middle, 21 Shaneel gilafs are put on while one Darshani gilaf is put on the outermost side. Amidst the devotional activities, a team of doctors and support staff of Shri Mahant Indiresh (SMI) Hospital has established a Mela Hospital inside Darbar Sahib premises. A medcal team of SMI hospital including doctors, nursing staff and pharmacists has been deputed from Sunday onwards. They are well equipped to provide any medical assistance of all kinds to Sangat devotees from India and abroad. The hospital has also made available three ambulances at the Mela site to handle any emergency situations. The police have also set up a temporary Mela Thana at the fair venue. According to the organisers, a voluntary blood donation camp will be held on Monday at the fair site. Officials informed that there will be tight security at the Jhanda Mela site. More than two dozen CCTV cameras have also been installed at the Mela venue by the organising committee to closely monitor all activities.
