Last chance for students to register for graduate & PG courses from August 27

Students who were unable to secure admissions in the higher education institutions of the State due to various reasons will get a final opportunity to seek admission. The Higher Education department officials have been instructed to open the Samarth portal once again from August 27 to September 5 so that such students can register for admissions. A total of 76,030 students have registered online for first semester graduate courses while 24,895 have registered for first semester post-graduate courses for the academic year 2024-25 on the Samarth portal so far.
Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat informed the media that none of the State’s youth will be deprived of admission in the State’s higher education institutions. Considering the requirement of the students who passed the UVSP, CBSE and other board result improvement exams, those unable to secure admissions in central universities and students unable to secure admissions due to various reasons, a last chance will be provided to them for admission in the State universities under the department and other affiliated institutes. Departmental officials have been directed to reopen the Samarth portal from August 27 to September 5 for this purpose. Students who have been unable to secure admission will be able to register on the portal during this period to secure admission in graduate and post-graduate courses in higher education institutions. Departmental officials have been directed to ensure that such students do not face any issues in registration. Rawat further said that the Samarth governance portal was launched last year to facilitate uniformity in the State universities, which has yielded positive results. Out of the 76,030 students who registered online for graduate courses in 2024-25, 31.101 are in Kumaon University, 31,326 in Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University and 13,603 in Soban Singh Jeena University. Similarly, out of the 24,895 students who have registered online for post graduate courses, 12,249 are in Kumaon University, 8,193 in Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University and 4,453 in Soban Singh Jeena University. Out of the total registrations, 9,324 students have secured admissions in post graduate courses and 48,251 have secured admissions in graduate courses so far, the minister informed.
