Ahead of Rakshabandhan to be celebrated on Monday, people are flocking to the market for last-minute shopping. The market is bustling with activity as Rakhi vendors and sweet shop owners are experiencing a surge in business. Shops in Paltan Bazaar, Raja Road and other areas have been adorned with Rakhis and other decorations.
Rakhi seller Ravi Kumar said that a large number of customers are arriving for last-minute shopping. Many women are purchasing ornamental rakhis for their brothers, while others are buying new clothes for the occasion. He noted that over time, the enthusiasm for various festivals has dropped with preparations starting a couple of days before the event compared to past years.
Local resident Geeta Jain said that the excitement for any festival begins to build up when there are only a few days left. Due to her busy schedule, she was unable to visit the market earlier. However, she has completed her Rakhi shopping within a couple of days, purchasing Rakhis, clothes, sweets and other items.
Rekha Kaushal said that apart from shopping she also like to have Mehendi on her hands for the festival to make the occasion memorable for herself and her brothers. Many women thronged Mehendi stalls seeking special designs for Rakshabandhan.
