Terming the lathi charge on protesting unemployed youth in Dehradun on Thursday unfortunate, the Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the party is with all capable candidates and if there was any conspiracy or mishandling by the police and administration, action will be taken against the guilty after an inquiry. He also welcomed the decision of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who granted his approval to the Uttarakhand competitive examination (prevention of unfair means in recruitment) ordinance 2023. Bhatt said all capable candidates should get justice. He said that Uttarakhand has become the first State where an ordinance has been passed with provision for upto life imprisonment and Rs 10 crore penalty for those found guilty of facilitating malpractices in competitive exams.
Appealing to the youth to present their points in a peaceful manner and discuss the issues, he said that one wants to see the youth in examination halls instead of the roads as they are the future of Uttarakhand. The BJP State president further said, “Some political parties are misusing the energy of these youth to achieve their own ulterior motives. This is totally unacceptable to us. The youth should not get entangled in their propaganda and should proceed towards building a bright future for Uttarakhand.”
Meanwhile, the BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan accused the Congress of instigating the youth. He said, “The Congress first orchestrated the recruitment scam and when it came to answerability, the party began pretending to be sympathising with the youth. The Congress does not intend to stand with the youth but is trying to use this situation as an opportunity. On the one hand, it demands investigation into corruption and action against the guilty and on the other hand it sits with the accused in protest and seeks sympathy. The unemployed youth today are suffering the consequences of the seeds of corruption sown by the Congress in the past but the BJP will ensure that justice is done with the youth. The youth should not get influenced by anyone but observe patience and have faith for a better and transparent system,” he said.
