Terming lathi- charge on the Kedarnath Yatra pilgrims at Sonprayag in Rudraprayag district on Wednesday as unfortunate, the chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has said that the incident reflects gross mismanagement and insensitivity of the State BJP government.
She said that the incident is a blot in the ‘ Aathiti Devo Bhav’ culture of our country. Dasauni said that the pilgrims should have been informed about the red alert and stoppage of the Yatra and should not have been lathi charged. She said that the pilgrims were not hooligans but the followers of Lord Shiva.
Dasauni said that on one hand the State government spends crores on advertisement inviting pilgrims to Char Dham Yatra and claims to organise Yatra for the 12 months of the year and on the other the pilgrims are maltreated. She said that such incidents will affect the image of the State and Char Dham Yatra.
