Lecture programme on obesity-related diseases held at Military Hospital

A lecture programme on obesity-related diseases was organised for army personnel at the Military Hospital here on Tuesday under the auspices of the Military Hospital, Station Health organisations and the Uttarakhand Sub Area. The programme was observed on World Obesity Day.
During the event, colonel Alok Gupta informed the soldiers about various obesity-related diseases and serious health issues including diabetes, high blood pressure, fatty liver, osteoarthritis, fatigue and depression. He emphasised the importance of timely intervention to reduce obesity
Further, captain Jitendra Sharma and captain Rishabh Mal also gave advice on preventing obesity. They urged attendees to avoid junk food, processed foods and oily substances as much as possible, while encouraging the inclusion of more fruits and green vegetables in their daily diets. The significance of regular exercise was also highlighted during the programme.
Additionally, during the programme, in total, five officers, 25 junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and 140 soldiers participated, gaining insights into the health complications that can arise from obesity. A health exhibition was also held on the occasion.
