The Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the association of government school lecturers has registered its strong protest against the reports that the Education department has forwarded a proposal granting the power of inspection of schools and handing over the charge of Block Education Officers (BEO) to the employees of clerical cadre. In a letter to the director, Secondary Education, the RSS has demanded that the proposal should be immediately withdrawn. The organisation of lecturers said that the association will be forced to launch an agitation. The association has also directed the heads of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions and all district heads of RSS to ensure that the teachers do not follow the orders of the employees of clerical cadre if they visit the schools for any inspection. The president of the RSS Ram Singh Chauhan said that the teachers will boycott classes if the proposal is not taken back by the department.
The State media coordinator of the RSS, Pranay Bahuguna said that most of the employees of clerical cadre are attached in the offices located in easy to access areas and the teachers are doing most of the clerical work such as filling entries in their GPF book. He said that the government should abolish the posts of clerical cadre in the Education department.
