To mark the World Senior Citizen’s Day, a legal literacy and medical camp was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Uttarkashi in the village Ganeshpur under Bhatwadi tehsil.
Organised under the guidance of the district judge and chairman, District Legal Services Authority Uttarkashi, Gurubaksh Singh, senior citizens were informed about their rights and welfare schemes rolled out by the Centre and the State government for their wellbeing. Along with this, they were also made aware of issues like old age challenges, health- related problems and their mistreatment.
The medical team conducted health check-up of the senior citizens and distributed free medicines. Officials of the District Child Protection Unit, Uttarkashi also participated in the camp and explained the rights of senior citizens in detail.
Apart from this, during the programme, the villagers were also made aware of the role of the Permanent Lok Adalat set up in Tehri district and the process of cases being settled there.
