In latest news from Uttarakhand, the people in the Tallital area of the lake town are now living under the shadow of leopard terror after a number of the big cats were spotted prowling around some areas. Previously, CCTV footages had captured a leopard attacking dogs in Dhobighat. The videos showing leopards stalking in search of prey have gone viral on several social media platforms, further deepening the people’s panic. They urged the forest department to intensify night patrolling to keep them safe from leopard attack. They also requested the foresters to capture the leopards seen prowling around in some parts of the town.
A senior BJP Mahila Morcha leader Kavita Gangola said that leopards had been seen in the area many times in the past as well. A senior Nainital forest division officer said that they had received information of leopards roaming about in many Tallital areas. Subsequently, they have intensified patrolling and urged the locals not to venture out to the deserted areas alone after dark, he added.
