Light rain brings some relief, more in store today

Light rain was witnessed in various parts of the State especially in the mountains while the plains witnessed a partially cloudy day on Saturday. The weather is expected to remain similar on Sunday with the State Meteorological Centre issuing a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gust winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts of the State today. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms/snowfall (at 3300 metres and above) are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the remaining mountainous districts of the State. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms are also likely to occur at isolated places in the plain districts today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 29 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 30.1 degrees Celsius and 18.9 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.8 degrees Celsius and 20.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.1 degrees Celsius and 9.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 19.5 degrees Celsius and 9.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. With light rain being reported in various parts of the State, Badrinath and Pandukeshwar witnessed nine millimetres while there was eight millimetres in Naugaon, six in Sankri, five in Mori, 3.5 in Lohaghat, 3.5 in Didihat and two millimetres each in Harshil and Satpuli.
