Light rain to provide relief from heat in some parts, plains to remain mostly dry

The temperatures remained above average in various parts of the State on Monday with the heat affecting the routine life of the people to some extent. While the plains witnessed temperatures above normal, light rain was reported in some parts of the State. Some relief from the heat is expected in 10 districts of the State on Tuesday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat and Nainital districts and at isolated places in Pauri and Udham Singh Nagar districts today. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat, Nainital, Pauri and Udham Singh Nagar districts.Dry weather will prevail in remaining districts of Uttarakhand.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky towards afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 38.4 degrees Celsius and 21.3 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25.6 degrees Celsius and 13.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.4 degrees Celsius and 15.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.

Light rain was reported in some places with 4.5 millimetres in Kanalichhina, four millimetres in Sankri, three millimetres in Gangolihat and 2.5 millimetres each in Chaukhutiya and Garud.
