Bharatiya Janata Party State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the Congress is unable to digest Ashutosh Negi’s arrest on the basis of a case lodged following the complaint made by a dalit youth. The protest staged by the Congress on this issue exposes its anti-dalit character, he said, while adding that it is unfortunate that the Congress is trying to link the arrest with the Ankita Bhandari case for its own political aims.
Chauhan said that the police acted against Negi under the SC-ST Act following a complaint lodged by Rajesh Koli. This has no relation to the Bhandari murder case but the Congress is questioning this action. “As far as the murder case is concerned, the Congress has been playing politics on it from the start. The Congress has undertaken various campaigns on this but the public did not pay heed to it. The case is sub judice and the accused are in jail. Meanwhile, the Congress is indulging in the disinformation campaign which it has been undertaking since the initial phases of this case. It has no interest in ensuring justice to Ankita as it is trying to score political brownie points by exploiting this case. The Congress intends to misdirect the fight for justice for Ankita while the BJP remains committed to ensuring justice,” Chauhan said.
