Liver transplant unit to start at VIMS soon

A renowned liver cancer surgeon and director, Liver Transplant Department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, Dr Suresh Singhvi agreed to start a liver transplant unit at Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS). Informing this on Friday, the vice-chancellor of Shri Venkateshwara University, Rajeev Tyagi said that it would help fulfil Shri Venkateshwara University’s goal of ensuring access to affordable and world-class healthcare services to the poorest sections of the society. The chairman of the Venkateshwara Group of Institutes Sudhir Giri expressed happiness over the development. In his address, Singhvi said that the liver transplantation unit would be launched soon, adding that it would help the people of western UP, particularly Meerut and Moradabad districts, a lot. “They will no longer rush to Delhi and Gurugram for treatment and surgeries for liver and pancreas cancer,” he added.
