Locals can submit the application to the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) if they believe a particular lane or street requires street light. A team of the corporation will soon conduct a survey to mark the gaps in various localities for street lights installation and the team will also consider the applications submitted by the locals. The municipal commissioner Abhishek Ruhela said that local residents who think a street light is required in a certain area can write an application about the same or contact the corporation.
Many people of various localities including Dalanwala, Jakhan, Sahastradhara Road and Raipur have stated that certain routes and lanes do not have street lights installed for years making it harder for them and others to use the routes during the night, especially during the winter. “I travel almost daily through Balbir Road but due to no street light on various stretches on the route, it does not feel secure to drive or walk during the night. Many accidents have also occurred there this year during the night but still, no light has been installed on the route,” said a local resident Sangeeta Payal. According to Ruhela, the corporation will soon conduct a survey to mark the gaps where the installation of LED street lights is needed. The locals can also tell us about the same and we will consider it during the survey so that proper installation work can be carried out after the survey, added the commissioner.
