The locals are expecting that the ancient Jageshwar shrine in Almora district will witness a surge in number of pilgrims and tourists arriving here after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit slated for October 12. A major cleanliness drive is underway at the location in view of the PM’s visit.
It will be recalled that during his proposed visit to the Kumaon region, Modi is slated to offer prayers in Jageshwar on October 12 after which he will visit the border area of Jolikang and interact with jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. The PM is also slated to view the products made by the locals, interact with the locals and see Adi Kailash. He will address the public in Pithoragarh on the same day and directly interact with beneficiaries of government schemes. The PM will spend the night at Mayawati Ashram in Champawat and then depart in the morning.
Meanwhile, locals of Jageshwar are expecting the number of visitors to rise drastically after the PM’s visit to this cluster of temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. They expect that his visit will go a long way in promoting Jageshwar as a destination for pilgrims and tourists. In the past, the number of visitors to Kedarnath had witnessed a considerable rise after Modi’s visits to the high altitude Himalayan shrine in Rudraprayag district.
