The people living in the Dudharkhal area of Pauri district have expressed gratitude to the State Cabinet minister and Chaubattakhal MLA, Satpal Maharaj for the latter’s initiative to have the liquor shop in the area shut down. Notably, the people with women in the lead had staged demonstrations against the opening of the English liquor shop in Dudharkhal following which Maharaj had taken up the matter with the district administration.
While venting anger against the opening of the booze shop in Dudharkhal, the locals had said that they had not been taken into confidence regarding the matter. They had further said that the operation of the liquor outlet had been ill-impacting the atmosphere of their area and might damage the moral character and future of their children.
Hailing the administrative initiative to shut down the outlet, a local Sushila Devi said that they had been relieved. “This is a right step in the collective interests of the people,” she added.
