Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that lord Ram has an unbreakable link with Uttarakhand. His father, king Dashrath undertook religious rituals for attaining a child on the banks of the Sarayu river which originates in Bageshwar district. After defeating Ravan, lord Ram undertook rituals at the Raghunath temple in Devprayag to atone for Bhramahatya. Dhami said this while speaking at a Ramotsav programme in Haldwani on Saturday.
He said, “It is a matter of pride for us that the Ramlila being staged in Ayodhya these days is being performed by artistes from Uttarakhand. The Uttarakhand chief minister Yogi Adityanath has also stated that the best Ramlila in the country is from Uttarakhand.”
Dhami further said, “Lord Ram is our ideal. All his actions are worth emulating in human life. I can say only this much for lord Ram- he is the soul, honour and sensitivity of our nation. Ram is of the country and the country is of Ram. The Pran Pratishtha of lord Ram in Ayodhya on January 22 is an occasion we have all waited for. We should all light diyas at home to celebrate this occasion.
Considering the faith of devotees, we have requested the Railway minister to facilitate operation of Vande Bharat express between Dehradun and Ayodhya while also asking the Civil Aviation minister to facilitate the start of a helicopter service between Dehradun and Ayodhya. The operation of bus service to Ayodhya from Dehradun and Haldwani has been started,” the CM added.
He said that as part of the efforts to make Uttarakhand a leading State, the government is working on eradication of corruption and drug abuse as top priorities. Sports activities will be developed further to prevent the youngsters from falling prey to substance abuse.
