LT examination: HC directs USSSC to extend the last date
Paving the way for a large number of unemployed youths to appear in the Licensed Teacher (LT) examination, the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) has extended the last date of submission of forms for the examination. The Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (USSSC) had invited the application for the examination last year and the last date was December 4, 2020. The court has now directed the commission to extend the last date to March 25, 2021.
Dehradun resident Ravindra Jugran had filed public interest litigation (PIL) in the Uttarakhand High Court on the issue. In the PIL, it was submitted that the Uttarakhand Teachers Eligibility Test (UTET) examination which was scheduled in July 2020 was held in January 2021 and its result was declared in February 2021 due to which a large number of youths were deprived to apply for the LT examination. Hearing the petition, the bench of chief justice of Uttarakhand HC, R S Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma directed the USSSC to extend the date of submission of forms and make proper publicity about the extension of the date.
