With an aim to raise awareness about the critical condition of the Rispana and Bindal rivers among the relevant authorities, Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) will organise a run in Dehradun on June 9. Stating this, a member of MAD Prince Kapoor informed that they have observed over time that various rivers in Dehradun, including Rispana and Bindal, have dried up due to development projects undertaken by the State government. In light of this, to raise awareness among the concerned authorities, they will be organising a ‘Madathon’ run on June 9. The run will begin from Parade Ground, pass through Race Course, Survey Chowk and conclude back at Parade Ground, he added.
He further mentioned that the run will be environmentally friendly, as all banners are made from cloth by their volunteers. Additionally, instead of using plastic bottles, water will be served in steel glasses borrowed from various Gurudwaras in Dehradun. He emphasised that the members of MAD will ensure that no plastic is used during the event. Kapoor further added that another reason for organising the run is to celebrate MAD completing 13 years. He shared that 8,000 individuals have already registered for the run and they expect 10,000 individuals to register. Registration forms will be available at all Suvidha stores in Dehradun and people can also register online by visiting the group’s Instagram account, he added.
