Mafia ruling the roost in Uttarakhand: Priyanka Gandhi

Taking cognizance of the Rishikesh incident, the general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has said that the law and order situation seems to be in the grip of the mafia in Uttarakhand. The Congress leader posted on social media a picture of the injured Rishikesh journalist Yogesh Dimri and said that the journalist was beaten so badly that he had to be admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. She said that the deplorable action reflects the law and order situation in Uttarakhand. The Congress leader said that the liquor, mining and land mafia are ruling the roost in the State . She alleged that instead of putting a rein on the mafia, the BJP government is patronising them.
Meanwhile the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has demanded impartial inquiry in the Rishikesh incident. He said that the State government should take immediate action to curb mafia activity in the State. Mahara alleged that the illegal activities are increasing under the BJP rule in the State. Expressing concern over the attack on a journalist by the liquor mafia, the PCC president said the attack reflects the pathetic condition of law and order in the State.
