Mahamandaleshwar Sumananand Giri felicitated in Haridwar

The head of Jagatguru Ashram, Shankaracharya Rajrajeshwarashram Maharaj said that those who are ascetics are saints in the true sense and today only a few saints are worthy of being praised. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony, he also appreciated Mahamandaleshwar Swami Sumananand Giri Maharaj of Shri Panchayati Niranjani Akhada. The event was organised by Mahamana Seva Sansthan. President of the social organisation, Padam Prakash Dwivedi and general secretary Ramesh Chandra Sharma expressed gratitude to the guests and threw light on the life of Mahamandaleshwar Sumananand Giri.
Speaking as the chief guest, cabinet minister Prem Chand Agrawal said that the importance of pilgrimages increases with the presence of saints.
Sumnanand Giri, the head of Maun Teerth Ujjain, said that he is feeling elated at visiting his birthplace Kankhal, adding that he has an emotional relationship with this land. Referring to the Varnashram system of Hindu philosophy, he said that Varnashram system has been in practice in the country since ancient times and it has great importance in national unity and integrity.
Today only a few householders in the society adopt Vanprasth and Sanyas Ashram. If one follows the Varnashram system, there will be no need for old age homes in the society, he said. Various members of the religious fraternity, public representatives and members of the general public were also present on the occasion.
