The Mahant Indiresh Hospital Pharmacies have recently achieved the recognition of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). This recognition allows D Pharma students from across the State to enroll for training at the hospital. In response to this development, the hospital’s chairman, Mahant Devendra Das congratulated the team at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shri Guru Ram Rai University.
Further, Dr Divya Juyal who is the head of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, explained that any centre meeting the PCI’s evaluation criteria is approved as a training centre. PCI officials conducted a thorough evaluation of Mahant Indiresh Hospital, ensuring compliance with state and central government guidelines, as well as NABL and NABH accreditations. Following the satisfactory assessment of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital’s dispensaries on all PCI parameters, they have been authorised to provide training, she added.
Notably, completion of 500 hours of training is mandatory for the D Pharma course in the pharmaceutics discipline. Only PCI recognised centres can provide training to D Pharma students. Currently, government hospitals dispensaries like Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital and Coronation Hospital are offering this training. The Mahant Indiresh Hospital has now become the first private hospital in Uttarakhand where D Pharma students can receive training in its dispensaries. In order to complete the D Pharma course, it’s mandatory for the candidates to pass the examination as well as get trained by a PCI-recognised training centre. Only after this, the candidate gets registration from the State Pharmacy Council.
