Nothing wrong; some politicians & their allies conspiring to defame Sanatan temples: BJP

Taking cognisance of questions being raised by some regarding the gold plating done in the sanctum sanctorum of Kedarnath temple, the Uttarakhand Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat has sought a high level inquiry into the matter. A delegation of the Mahapanchayat office bearers also plans to meet the chief minister and chief secretary regarding this. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that it is natural for the Congress and its socialist friends to raise questions on this issue as it has been their habit to target Sanatan Dharma and its temples. The Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee has already refuted allegations of the gold plating in the temple actually being brass and termed such talk on the social media a “conspiracy”.

In a statement issued on Sunday the Mahapanchayat media in-charge Rajnikant Semwal and spokesman Prashant Dimri said that the walls of the sanctum sanctorum of Kedarnath were gold plated last year. Some days ago the Teerth Purohits of Kedarnath alleged that the gold did not appear to be pure and that it seemed to be like brass. The Mahapanchayat office bearers said that this is a serious matter related to the faith of crores of devotees. They had sought a high level inquiry into the matter to bring the truth in front of the public. Semwal said that a delegation of the Mahapanchayat will soon meet the chief minister and chief secretary regarding this matter.

Meanwhile, BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that it is unfortunate that the Congress and its allies are unnecessarily trying to create a controversy around attempts to lend grandeur to temples of Sanatan Dharma. Statements made by Congress leaders and other political parties based on incomplete and unconfirmed information shows their irresponsible attitude towards Sanatan culture, he said. “The temple committee has already made it clear that all the works were done by the donor following proper procedure and with complete documentation.Despite this, some political parties are indulging in negative politics and making irresponsible statements as part of a conspiracy to dent the image of our sacred temples,” said Chauhan.
