The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that government arrangements on the Char Dham Yatra routes are pathetic. In a letter sent to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Mahara said that there is an urgent need to revamp the arrangements in the Yatra route. In the letter he said, “The Char Dham Yatra and the tourism season in the State has started.  Tourism is one of the major sources of income of the people of the State but arrangements at the start of Yatra this year are poor. The pilgrims coming from other States are facing problems in registration.’’

Mahara suggested that the arrangement of registration should be made at major entry points of Yatra such as Rishikesh, Chinyalisaur, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi and responsibility of the officers of administration and tourism department should be fixed in this regard.

The PCC president added that with rising mercury the drinking water crisis has set up in many parts of the State. He said that 50 per cent water sources providing drinking water to the people residing in mountainous areas get dried up in the month of April due to which scarcity of drinking water occurs.

Mahara said that apart from the local population the hotel owners and tourists visiting the State face problems from drinking water scarcity. He demanded that the assessment of drinking water shortage should be immediately done and efforts should be made to tackle the issue.
