Mahara lauds opposition united initiative against Modi

Welcoming the initiative taken by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of uniting the opposition parties against the BJP, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that a united stand to protect the democracy is the need of the hour. He said that the meeting of Nitesh Kumar and other opposition leaders with Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Kharge is a historic initiative to take on the oppressive policies of the Modi government and misuse of the central agencies. He opined that the manner in which the ruling BJP is trying to stifle the voice of poor and opposition parties, it has become necessary to stand firmly to protect democracy in the country.

 He said that the meeting of opposition leaders in New Delhi is a good sign for the politics of the country. Mahara said that the manner in which the democratic institutions are being attacked and opposition leaders targeted by the central agencies, the people of the country want to get rid of the Modi government. The PCC president said that opposition parties should become united against the anti people policies of the Modi government and these leaders have made a beginning in this direction. He also welcomed the statement of Congress president Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in which they have appealed to the opposition parties to pose a united front to develop a new vision.

 The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Mathura Dutt Joshi said that the Modi government has defamed democracy by using the central agencies only against the leaders of opposition parties.
