Maharaj directs officials to prepare Kedarkhand Mandir Mala Mission

The State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj has directed officials to prepare a Kedarkhand Mandir Mala Mission on the lines of the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission in order to develop the identified ancient temples in the State. He also directed them to soon present proposals for a statue of Ved Vyas in the Gunji valley and for developing various facilities on the bridle path to Kartik Swami. The minister issued these instructions while chairing a meeting at the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board to review wedding destination plans, Tehri lake construction works and the master plans for various other destinations in the State on Saturday.

Maharaj directed officials to prepare a Kedarkhand Mandir Mala Mission so that devotees can get better facilities and visit the ancient temples in the region. He said after the meeting that construction of the 5.5 kilometre Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway costing Rs 285 crore is underway. The private investor appointed for the 3.85 kilometre ropeway from Jankichatti to Yamunotri costing Rs 166.81 crore is undertaking survey and other works for the project. Similarly, the work on the 903 metre Purnagiri ropeway costing Rs 35 crore is also underway. The minister further informed that works amounting to Rs 111 crore have been proposed in two phases under the masterplan for Mahasu Devta Mandir in Dehradun district. Financial approval for Rs 94.36 lakh has been granted for illumination and facade lighting at the temple. Similarly, for development around the Tehri dam reservoir in Tehri district, the Asian Development Bank has approved Rs 601.204 crore funding. The works will include construction of a 15.7 kilometre long tourism road from Koti Colony to Dobra Chanti bridge. This road will include a dedicated cycling track, viewpoint, dedicated hawker zone and a 450 metre long glass bottom pedestrian suspension bridge from Koti Colony to Tiwar village. Similarly, in the Chamoli district, a sum of Rs 7.95 crore has been approved by the administration for development of the Timmersain Mahadev Mandir. A draft masterplan has also been prepared for the planned development of Gangotri and Yamunotri. Instructions have also been issued to officials to build a caravan park, Maharaj added.
