Maharaj for transferring 29 subjects to panchayati raj dept

In latest news from Dehradun, the State Panchayati Raj minister Satpal Maharaj said while chairing the seminar on Panchayati Raj on the second day that the seminar had been convened for deliberation on how to further strengthen the three-tier rural structure through transferring 29 subjects to the department. He said that this transfer is required for more effective implementation of the rural welfare schemes being rolled out to strengthen the Panchayati Raj institutions under the 73rd Amendment Act. While pitching for this transfer, he further said that the same work is being done presently by several functionaries like the MP, MLA, zila panchayat head, block head and village head. “This is why we need to transfer subjects. All the departments concerned have been informed that we are mulling on this matter,” he said and added that the seminar is focused on three Fs-fund, function and functionary. He also asked the officers concerned to take the transfer related matter to fruition in a phased manner.
Besides the minister, a senior officer of National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) Hyderabad Anjan Kumar Bhanja and senior consultant Md Taqiuddin addressed the seminar on the day and spoke on the measures being taken to strengthen the rural self-rule through the Panchayati Raj system.
