Maharaj of Bageshwar’s Angyari Mahadev Dham ‘murdered’

In latest news from Uttarakhand, a 50-year-old ascetic of Angyari Mahadev Dham known as Nirman Maharaj was found dead under mysterious circumstanced a little away from the shrine. Suspecting it to be a case of murder, the Revenue Police took a cab driver from Karnprayag into custody. The sub-divisional magistrate Garur Jitendra Verma said that they had got some important clues which might lead to the identification of the murderer and understanding the murder motive. He further said that another ascetic who lived with the deceased Maharaj had disappeared and Revenue Police were looking for him.

Sources said that Maharaj had returned from Badrinath pilgrimage with his associate ascetic Arjun on November 23 and was seen heading towards the dham. But as he had not reached the temple on November 25, his devotees grew suspicious and started searching for him, leading to the body  being found on a forested hill around 500 meters from the temple.
