Maharaj orders DM to identify parking spaces in Nainital

Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj directed the Nainital district magistrate Vandana Singh to identify designated parking spaces for two-wheeler riders in the city. The minister said that during his recent visit to Nainital,
locals informed him that even a brief halt, like for purchasing medicine or collecting items from a shop, leads to their vehicles being seized by traffic police. They told him that there is no designated area in the city where they can park their two-wheelers, which is causing inconvenience.
Responding to these concerns, the minister instructed the DM to make provisions for parking space for two-wheeler users. Until a permanent parking area is identified, he suggested temporary relaxation and a time-bound or specific parking zone to be made available. This will allow people to park their vehicles briefly and purchase essential items from nearby shops without facing penalties, he said.
He added that it will help to address the problem faced by local residents and visitors who rely on two-wheelers for short errands in the city during tourist season.
