Maharaj stresses on developing facilities in Panchayats

The Panchayati Raj minister Satpal Maharaj directed departmental officials to prepare a roadmap for planned development in remote areas. The minister issued various directions while chairing a review meeting with department officials on Friday.
He stressed on the need for developing model schools, hospitals and basic facilities in Panchayats. The minister directed the officials to link all Gram Panchayats with networking facility and to facilitate skill and capacity building training in Panchayats to encourage livelihood enhancement. The department officials informed him about the organisational structure of the department. The minister directed the officials to fill the vacant posts of additional engineer, Gram Panchayat development officer and assistant development officer in Panchayats. They were also directed to appoint data entry operators in the Panchayats. Maharaj directed that the repair of schools and Anganwadi centres in Panchayats should be accorded priority while utilising 15th finance commission funds. Technology like bulk messaging should be used to provide agriculture related information to farmers in the Panchayats, he said. The minister directed that study tours for Panchayat representatives and personnel should be conducted to Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and other states.
