Maharaj writes to Patel, suggests Covid insurance for tourists
The negative impact of Covid-19 pandemic has drastically reduced the number of foreign tourists arriving in India apart from affecting movement of domestic tourists. Considering this situation, it is important to introduce a Covid insurance policy to provide security to the tourists. This will revive the movement of both foreign and domestic tourists. The State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj stated this in a letter to the Union Tourism minister Prahlad Patel.
Maharaj stated that there is an atmosphere of fear among the foreign and domestic tourists due to the Covid pandemic. In order to attract tourists once again and provide them security, it is very important to introduce a Covid life insurance policy. He referred to the Kumbh Mela to be held during 2021 in Haridwar, adding that a large number of devotees and members of the religious fraternity are expected to arrive here for the Kumbh. Covid life insurance is also important for the devotees coming here to attend the Kumbh Mela. He has requested the Union minister to seriously consider this suggestion so that tourists can be attracted while being assured of their safety.
