Taking a dig at Karan Mahara completing one year as the Pradesh Congress Committee president, the Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the year was spent on factionalism and propaganda.
In an informal interaction with media persons here on Monday, Bhatt questioned which achievement is the PCC president claiming credit for. He said that the Congress is far from public service and has failed to raise the voice of the public on any issue. The task of the opposition should be to cooperate in constructive works, alert the authorities and give suggestions but the opposition in Uttarakhand is limited to allegations and counter allegations along with propaganda. Bhatt said that in its one year in office so far, the BJP State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken various decisions in public interest and executed various schemes on the ground. Instead of appreciating such work the opposition is busy in trying to create a negative environment. The stringent anti-copying law enacted in Uttarakhand to check malpractices in government recruitment exams is being appreciated across the nation but the Congress in Uttarakhand is inciting the employed on this issue. Work on developmental works worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore is underway in the State with the cooperation of the Central government but the Congress is unable to digest this, said the BJP State president. He further said that currently, the State government is trying to rid the State of encroachment in the form of illegally constructed religious structures but the Congress is continuing its appeasement policy in this case. The Congress is not bothered about the State’s policy, traditions, culture and Sanatan culture but is concerned only about its vote bank, he said. Instead of celebrating, the Congress should focus its efforts on serving the public as propaganda will not benefit it, added Bhatt.
