Mahashivratri celebrated with fervour across State

The festival of Mahashivratri was celebrated with zeal and religious fervour in different temples across the State on Friday. In Dehradun, queues of devotees formed since early morning at various large and small temples across the city. At the Tapekshwar Mahadev temple, devotees started queuing since the wee hours for their chance to offer prayers to Lord Shiva. A local Shiva temple priest Govind Dimri stated that devotees started visiting various templs since early in the morning to offer prayers and pour milk and other offerings on the Shivling.
Another priest of Shiv temple located at Patelnagar, Vibhu Prasad said that a large number of devotees gathered on the occasion of Shivratri. Many of the devotees visited the temple and distributed Prasad including Kheer, fruits and other favorite items offered to Lord Shiva, he said.
Many devotees outside the city temples were also witnessed consuming bhang. Additionally, fruit sellers in the city also experienced a significant increase in their business on that day.
