The facilities and finances of the Mahatma Khushi Ram Public Library here will be improved to further augment the footfall of eager and keen students from the economically weaker sections of society. This was among the decisions taken in this financial year’s first meeting of the library’s board of trustees on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by a majority of the board members and presided over by its president and retired IAS officer Vijay Bansal. The Board decided to improve its facilities and finances to attract more students from the economically weaker sections of society in Dehradun and around the State, who aspire for employment in private as well as government jobs. Bansal said that the board plans to approach the government through the present chief secretary as well as ONGC through its corporate social responsibility head with whom its project and proposals are pending. The executive committee also decided to adopt in its board the granddaughter of Mahatma Khushi Ram, Anjula Sagar who is presently in NCERT and Anurag Gupta, a noted senior advocate who have already joined the library as a patron and life member respectively.
