In latest news from Doon, the opposition Congress seems reluctant to let the ‘Hills versus Plains’ row to die down even after the resignation of the former State Finance and Parliamentary Affairs minister Premchand Aggarwal in the wake of the fierce reaction his ‘Pahadi’ comment made in the Assembly triggered. In a clear bid to revive the row, the Congress veteran and former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt is more to blame for his alleged attempt to polarise the people on the plank of the hills and the plains. “Those who chose to maintain studied silence despite having heard his comment are equally guilty,” he said, alluding to the State BJP brass.
Rawat also took a dig at those leaders in the State Congress who have been allegedly acting as sleeper cells of the ruling party, saying they should be identified. “BJP is doing service to the Congress by cleansing the latter of the accumulated garbage,” he quipped.
