PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

The workers of Mahila Congress held a protest outside the residence of cabinet minister Rekha Arya on Friday.

The workers demanded justice for Ankita Bhandari and registered their strong protest on the objectionable comment made by Girdhari Sahu, the husband of cabinet minister Ayra on women.

The workers led by the president of Uttarakhand Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela held a vociferous protest.

Addressing the workers, Rautela said that even after three years of her murder, Ankita Bhandari has not got justice. She said that in recent disclosures, the name of national general secretary and Uttarakhand in -charge of BJP has come up as the VIP involved in the case.  Rautela said that BJP leaders are involved in most of the cases of crime against women in the last few years in the State.

Strongly condemning the comment made by the husband of the minister in which he said that one can find brides in Bihar by spending only Rs 25,000, Rautela said the minister should come forward and clarify on what her husband has said. Arya and her husband should also seek an apology publically, she said.

She said that the comment of Sahu shows his mentality in which women are treated as commodities.
