Main accused in Parmarth Niketan online fraud held in Delhi

The Pauri district police nabbed the main accused Yunus in the cyber fraud running into lakhs of rupees conducted through a fake Parmarth Niketan website from Delhi on Wednesday. The accused originally hails from the Jurheri village in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, police informed, adding that four ATM cards of different banks, one mobile phone and Rs 55,000 in cash had been recovered from the accused.
The police have frozen 15 suspicious bank accounts, blocked three fake websites and five mobile numbers used by the fraudster. Following the arrest, the Pauri senior superintendent of police Shweta Choubey announced a reward of Rs 10,000 to the team for cracking the case.
Notably, the FIR regarding the alleged fraud was registered in Lakshmanjhula police station on April 15. As per the FIR, an unknown person committed fraud by booking rooms online in the name of Parmarth Niketan by using a fake website. Subsequently, the police registered a case against an unidentified person under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. As per instruction of the SSP, police constituted a team to crack the case. The police probed into the fake bank accounts and the mobile numbers used in the online booking of rooms through the fake Parmarth Niketan website.
To trace the location of the accused, the police team checked ATM transactions being made in Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and some other states. It found a person withdrawing money from a bank ATM located in south Delhi while scrutinising CCTV footage. And finally, acting on a tip-off, police arrested the accused. Police found through investigation that the accused had used seven different bank accounts for the online fraud and transaction of Rs 35 lakh had been done in 10 days.
