Dehradun police arrested the main accused along with two others in the Bairagiwala murder case on Thursday. The three accused were caught from a hotel on the Yamunanagar highway in Haryana after police teams carried out raids in different States, officials said.
The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal said that earlier, six accused had already been arrested and sent to jail. “Our teams continued to search for the remaining suspects by conducting raids at different locations and successfully arrested the main accused, Aman, along with Savej and Azam from Haryana,” Dobal said. With these arrests, the total number of accused arrested in the case has reached nine.
Notably, the incident took place on June 13 in Bairagiwala village under Sahaspur police station. Two groups got into a violent clash over irrigation water for agricultural fields. Police said that the dispute had been going on for the past few days. During the fight, several people allegedly attacked three brothers, Ashok Kumar, Vinod Kumar and Rajesh Kumar. The injured were taken to Lehman Hospital, where Vinod Kumar died during treatment.
Following a complaint filed by Ashok Kumar, Sahaspur police registered a murder case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Considering the seriousness of the case, the SSP formed several police teams to trace and arrest the accused. He said that efforts are still continuing to trace and arrest any remaining accused involved in the case. “Strict action will be taken against everyone found responsible for the murder. The investigation into the case is still in progress,” Dobal added.
