Maj Gen Raj takes over as new GOC of Uttarakhand sub area

Major General R Prem Raj took charge as the General Officer Commanding (GoC), Uttarakhand sub area on Thursday. He succeeded Major General Sanjeev Khatri. After assuming the command, he laid a wreath at Shaurya Sthal and paid homage to the valiant soldiers who made supreme sacrifice for the nation.

Major General Raj is an alumnus of the Sainik School, Kazhakottam, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.  He was commissioned into 6th Mechanised Infantry (1 Garhwal Rifles) on  December 15, 1990.

 He has commanded a mechanised battalion, an independent armoured brigade and a strike division on the western front. An avid reader with interest in history, philosophy, culture and leadership, the officer has also tenanted important staff and instructional assignments at Strategic Forces Command, Headquarters 9f Southern Command and the Mechanised Infantry Centre and School, Ahmednagar.
