Make education system in State student centric: CM to officers

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that apart from qualitative improvement the education system in the State should be made student centric. He said that the focus on moral education should also be made and the number of female students should be increased. The school dropout rate should be reduced and the residential hostels should be promoted by the department. These directives were given by the CM during a meeting with senior officers of the Education department at the secretariat here on Thursday.

In the meeting the CM said that the weight of the school bag should be reduced. He said that the furniture should be made available as per requirement of the schools and arrangement of solar panels should be made. Dhami said that the officers should thoroughly examine the policy adopted by the department for simplifying the process of transfers. The CM said that such a system for improvement of the schools should be adopted so that the people get inspired to admit their wards in the government schools. 

Dhami said that efforts for speedy implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 should be ensured along with focus on smart and virtual classes. The CM added that innovations should be encouraged in the schools. He said that the student educational tour scheme should be properly implemented. Under the scheme 50 meritorious students from every block will be sent on an educational tour of premier scientific and technical institutes. He said that the free notebooks should be provided to the students under the Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Uphaar scheme. The CM said that the students should be informed about the statehood movement of Uttarakhand, different dimensions of culture, Indian values and traditional knowledge.

The deputy chairperson of the State infrastructure monitoring council Vishwas Dawar, chief secretary Radha Raturi, additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagauli, Ravinath Raman, Ranjit Sinha, director general of Education Banshidhar Tiwari and others attended the meeting.
