Make single window system to boost tourism in wildlife protected areas: CM
A single window system should be started for booking to encourage tourism in wildlife protected areas of the state. An application should also be developed for online booking. The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat issued these directions while chairing a meet along with Forest and Wildlife, AYUSH, Skill Development and Labour minister Harak Singh Rawat to review the departments under him.
The CM said that permission should be granted within a fixed time limit to people who apply for wood and riverbed material. The traditional rights of the people should be brought under the Right to Service. Further, a work plan should be made to ensure protection of the trees planted by the forest department. Not limiting the aim to simply tree plantation, responsibility should also be fixed for the protection of the planted trees while also seeking public cooperation. The forest department should lay special focus on increasing revenue. He said that a scheme should be prepared for developing medicinal plant based growth centre. Cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat said that in the Corbett tiger reserve, the work of setting up Dhela rescue centre and Pokhra tiger safari is under progress while Garjia tourism zone is being established. In the past three years, tree plantation was carried out in an average 1,500 hectare area annually. He further informed that the number of tigers in Uttarakhand rose from 178 in 2006 to 442 by 2018 while the number of elephants increased from 1,839 in 2017 to 2,026 at present. Under various schemes, the forest department provided employment to 1.20 lakh people in the past three years, he said.
Reviewing the AYUSH department, the CM said that the department should raise public awareness on Yoga, Pranayam, diet chart and various departmental activities through different media. Stating that public leaning towards AYUSH and homoeopathy had increased during Covid-19 pandemic, he directed officials to attempt to facilitate AYUSH and allopathy in most places for the public. A detailed project report should be prepared soon for an international research centre at Charakdanda, he instructed. The cabinet minister informed that during the Covid pandemic, the department had distributed more than two lakh Kadha kits. The department has also prepared pre and post Covid kits, he informed. Reviewing employment and skill development, the CM directed officials that in the 25 ITIs being upgraded, better training facilities and production and marketing should be facilitated to exhibit the talent of students and encourage them. Work should also be done to strengthen skill and livelihood centres with focus on latest technology and innovations. He also directed officials to ensure that 70 per cent locals secure employment in industrial establishments in the state. The CM and cabinet minister also reviewed various aspects of the labour department.
