824 ANMs appointed in health department of the State
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 187 ANMs at his residence on the occasion of the Chaitra Navratri and the New Year of Hindu calendar on Wednesday. The health department has appointed 824 Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANMs)
who would be deployed in different districts of the State. Congratulating the newly appointed health workers, the CM said they have got a golden opportunity to serve the people. He said that the ANMs would be responsible for providing primary health care in the remote parts of the State and taking care of the pregnant women and children. The CM said that the State government is making continuous efforts to make the women of the State self reliant and empowered. A horizontal reservation of 30 per cent has been given to women of the State. Dhami said that the State government has taken a target to make Uttarakhand the best State of the country and in this endeavour the cooperation of women is necessary. He said that all departments of the State are working on a roadmap of ten years which will place the State among the leading States of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that all the newly appointed ANMs would serve in the remote mountainous areas of the State for next five years. He said that the 92 per cent posts of the ANMs in the health department are now filled. The Minister said that soon 171 assistant professors would be appointed in the medical colleges of the State after which the problem of paucity of staff in Almora and Srinagar Medical colleges would be removed. He added that all the posts of Medical officers in the State health department would be filled by the year 2024.
Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi and Chandan Ram Das also congratulated the newly appointed ANMs.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the HNB Medical education university Hemchandra Pandey, director general (DG) health services Dr Vinita Shah, the Principal Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Dr Ashutosh Sayana and others were present on the occasion.
