The making of reels has been completely prohibited in the famous Naina Devi temple here in Nainital. The temple management has also issued guidelines directing the devotees to be dressed appropriately while entering the temple. This temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths across the nation and is visited by throngs of locals and visitors regularly.
Naina Devi Mandir Amar Uday Trust administrative officer Shailendra Melkani informed that devotees from various parts of India visit the temple to pay their obeisance to the goddess Naina Devi. Many of the visitors also make reels for social media while visiting the temple. The temple management has now banned the making of reels. The temple management has also issued guidelines directing visitors to be dressed appropriately in traditional Indian attire while visiting the temple. Melkani said that recently a woman had made an objectionable reel while visiting the temple. She had shared it on social media which had hurt the sentiments of thousands of devotees. Considering this, the temple management has decided to prohibit making of reels in the temple compound. The authorities will seize the mobile phone of any person found violating this prohibition and will follow it with legal action, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that soon after the start of the Char Dham Yatra in May, the State government had banned the making of reels and videography within 50 metres of the Char Dham temples.
