Making relentless efforts for qualitative improvement in education sector: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the smart school TV device and spoken English programmes of government schools in a programme held at Government Girls Inter College (GGIC) Kaulagarh in Dehradun on Monday. The CM also inaugurated the new building of the school and the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose residential hostel and Kasturba Gandhi residential hostel Korba on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the CM announced the decision to name the GGIC Kaulagarh after former MLA and speaker Harbans Kapoor. He said that the State government is making relentless efforts to bring in qualitative improvement in the education sector.
Dhami said that residential hostels would be opened wherever required in the endeavour of giving every opportunity to the poor and deprived sections of society. He said that India is moving at a fast pace in every sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CM said that India would be chairing the G20 summit in the year 2023 and it is a very good opportunity for the country to give further momentum to the ‘ local for global’ mantra. He said that on the proposal of India, the United Nations general assembly has declared the year 2023 as the International year for Millets. The CM added that every effort is being made to bring Uttarakhand in the category of the leading States of the country by the year 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, the education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the National Education Policy (NEP) -2020 has been implemented in the State under the leadership of CM Dhami and under it 5000 Bal Vatikas are operational in the State. He claimed that free textbooks, school bags, uniform, shoes and other things are being provided to about 11 lakh students free of cost in the State. Recently the State government has taken a decision to provide free textbooks to all students of classes IX to XII in the government and aided schools. Rawat added that soon the ‘ Hamari Virasat’ book would be taught to the students in which information about traditions, culture, history, society and prominent personalities would be given to the students.
The cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, MLA Savita Kapoor, director general of school education Banshidhar Tiwari, CEO of Sampark Foundation Vineet Nayar and others were present on the occasion.
