A 28-year-old man and a bull were killed in a road accident in the Khanpur area of Haridwar district when a speeding truck from Laksar collided with a bullock cart carrying three men on Sunday morning. The officials informed that
the deceased, identified as Popin (28), died on the spot. The bull also succumbed to the impact. Two others, Shekhar (25) and Saurabh, sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable, as per the officials.
They said that several angry villagers gathered at the scene and blocked the highway and accused the truck driver of negligence. Despite police intervention, the protest led to significant traffic disruption for a considerable time. The officials said that the police have started an investigation and sent the body for post-mortem. Further action will be taken accordingly, they added.
