The police arrested a man accused of murdering a wife and husband in Dehradun. According to the Patelnagar police, the accused confessed to having carried out the double murder after having a heated exchange with the couple. The police received information at about 2:30 AM on Saturday that a man had committed a double murder at Vidya Vihar in Pathribagh area. The citizen who complained informed that he was a resident of an apartment building where he and others came to the flat on the lower floor on hearing commotion at about 2 AM. After they rang the doorbell, a man appeared and said that he had killed the two persons living in the flat before trying to run away. The persons pushed him back and locked the flat from outside before calling the police. When police entered the flat, they discovered that the accused had escaped from a room in the back. While searching for him, the police nabbed the man not far from the scene of crime at about 4:30 AM. On being questioned by the police, the accused Hardwari Lal said that he along with Rajendra Singh and his wife Sapna used to live together in a rented accommodation in Lalpul area and had shifted to this apartment in the recent past. Sapna and her husband had often taken loan from him and had recently taken Rs 40,000 loan from him. In return for the loans he had developed an illicit relationship with Sapna. On Friday night, the trio and some of their friends had a liquor party in the flat when the accused had an argument with Sapna and her husband regarding their transactions. Their friends left the flat as the argument escalated. The argument subsided after some time after which the accused tried to get intimate with Sapna. Her husband objected to this after which the duo had an argument. The accused said that feeling angry, he took a pan from the kitchen and hit Sapna on the head and face with it as a result of which she fell on the spot. When Rajendra confronted him in anger, there was a scuffle in which the accused was injured in the head following which he used the same pan to bash Rajendra on the head and face, killing him on the spot.
