Thursday, 10 August | PNS | DEHRADUN

The accused Jagdish wanted in a double murder case of Udham Singh Nagar’s Rudrapur was finally arrested by the police from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. He has claimed that repeated rejection by the woman Sonali (34) pushed him to brutally kill her and her husband Sanju Yadav (38) on August 3. He was still wearing blood stained clothes when the police arrested him, said the senior superintendent of police Manjunath TC.

He said that eight teams of 45 police officials were sent to five different states to find the accused. Since Jagdish was not in connection with his family and was not using a mobile phone, it made it extremely difficult for the police to track him. However, the police got a lead when he withdrew money from his bank account in Haldwani two days ago. “His every movement was tracked via over 1,200 CCTV cameras after which he was arrested from Rampur six days after murdering the couple.

He has confessed that he killed Sonali and her husband after facing continuous rejections from her since he lived near their house in 2013,” said Manjunath. He said that the police are also carrying out necessary medical tests of Jagdish besides gathering all necessary evidence against him to ensure the court gives him the death penalty for the heinous crime.
